Midi-Tuesdays Lesson

In this lesson, it was submission day so I had to submit everything that was to do with my unit 5 work onto google drive and then started to complete the evaluation sheet.

Toby then came into the lesson and told us to add a new class to our google classroom and the class is separated from the others for our final project. Told us that every person in the class has to choose 2 songs each.

PerformanceThursday Lesson

In Thursdays lesson Sam sat us in a circle and we had to choose two songs for our final major project. The songs that I chose were House of the Rising Sun by The Animals and Feeling Good by Michael Bublé.

Other people in the class chose footloose, Counting stars, Skyfall, Stay and a few others.

Performance-Friday’s Lesson

In the lesson we had with Toby, we had chosen one song from our chosen two and started to practice them. Toby had printed off the lyrics and chord charts for both songs before lesson so it was easier to start us off. We ran through quite a few and managed to get through both of my songs. I got asked to learn abit of the keyboard for footloose – so my target is to learn the keyboard for that song.

Sweet Dreams Research

The song that I’ve chosen is Sweet Dreams-Eurythmics.

WHO WROTE IT?

The original composers of this song are Annie Lennox and David Allan Stewart, who are also the Iconic Duo Eurythmics.

WHO PLAYED WHAT ON IT?

  • Annie Lennox – vocalssynthesizer, piano.
  • David A. Stewart – synthesizer, programming.
  • Robert Crash – e-drums, synthesizer.
  • Adam Williams – synthesizer.
  • Reynard Falconer – synthesizer.
  • Brooklyn Wonderland – synthesizer.

WHEN AND WHERE WAS IT RECORDED?

“Sweet Dreams” was created and recorded in two places, first in the Eurythmics’ tiny project studio in the Chalk Farm district of London, above a picture framing shop, then in a small room at The Church Studios in North London. The home studio was equipped with a Tascam 8-track half-inch tape recorder, a Soundcraft mixer, a Roland Space Echo, a Klark Teknik DN50 spring reverb, a B.E.L. Electronics noise reduction unit, and a single Beyerdynamic M 201 TG microphone. The gear was purchased second-hand after Lennox and Stewart obtained a bank loan for £5000.

WHO PRODUCED IT?

The producer of the song was David Allan Stewart.

WHAT SUCCESS DID THE ORIGINAL ARTIST ?

Eurythmics Released in 1983 and won an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist.

Midi-Tuesday Lesson

In Tuesday lesson, we went straight into our songs, I went on to mix my vocals that i added to my track. In my opinion it sounds great but I would like to re record it as I feel I can do better. I also helped Bow try and write some lyrics for her track and for Sara’s grime track. I completed my track, mixed the song, added reverb, delay, compression, EQ, etc.

Performance-Thursdays Lesson

In Performance Sam told us we had to record a song that we had practised since September for Unit 5, Havana was basically chosen for me but I wanted to do Stole the show, as I think that Havana is very repetitive however I done it anyway.  Then when we  came back after break, Sam gave us our songs that Toby had chose for us.

The songs chosen is

  • Sweet Dreams-Laura, Bailey, Luke, Dylan
  • Walking on Sunshine-Zoe, Luke, Bailey
  • Come Together- Tom, Kai, Luke
  • Hanging on the Telephone – Sara
  • Song 2

And a few others.

Performance-Friday’s Lesson

I had a doctors appointment during performance so i wasn’t there however from what i heard it was a good lesson. For blogging, Toby gave us the task to research one of the songs that he has chosen for us. I can only research the song Sweet Dreams as that is the only one i’m in.
